As the FCC continues grants of applications from the 2003 translator filing window, portions of New York City and Los Angeles will reap the benefits of a new signal.
Bridgelight, LLC has been granted 95.1 W236CH Fort Greene, which will operate with 10 watts vertical at 277.3 meters from 4 Times Square in midtown Manhattan. The directional signal will cover most of Manhattan below 42nd Street as well as a good chunk of Brooklyn. Bridgelight operates Christian “The Bridge” 89.7 WRDR-FM Freehold Township, NJ and 99.7 WJUX Monticello, NY in addition to a few other translators in the New York and Hudson Valley markets. WJUX will serve as the originating station for the new translator.
In Los Angeles, Gold Coast Broadcasting has been granted 98.3 K252FK Culver City. The 13 watt translator will rebroadcast Rhythmic CHR “Q104.7” KCAQ Oxnard with coverage over Inglewood, Marina Del Rey, Venice, and South Central Los Angeles. The proposed 60dbu coverage map can be seen here. The 98.3 frequency is also home in the Los Angeles market to Univision’s “Recuerdo” KRCV West Covina, which covers the eastern portions of the Los Angeles market with a simulcast of 103.9 KRCD Inglewood.
