WOLF Goes Dark

Lance Ventaby Lance Venta
February 11, 2014

Radio Disney 1490 WOLF Syracuse Silent 1340 WMBO AuburnWOLF Radio’s “Radio Disney 1490” WOLF Syracuse has gone silent.

In filing an application with the FCC to go silent WOLF states,

THE STATION IS IN THE PROCESS OF CHANGING ITS PROGRAMMING FORMAT. IN ORDER TO EFFECTUATE THE CHANGE, THE STATION WILL NEED TO REMAIN SILENT TO GEAR UP FOR THE NEW FORMAT AND TO EFFECTUATE A SMOOTH TRANSITION AWAY FROM THE PRESENT FORMAT. ACCORDINGLY, IT IS RESPECTFULLY REQUESTED THAT THE STATION BE GRANTED AUTHORITY TO REMAIN SILENT FOR A PERIOD OF SIX MONTHS TO HAVE AMPLE TIME TO TRANSITION TO THE NEW FORMAT.

1490’s programming was simulcast of 1340 WMBO Auburn until around New Years Day when its flipped to the All-Beatles programming that was also heard on 103.9 WNDR/95.3 W237AY prior to its flip to Classic Hits “The Dinosaur“.

WOLF has a Construction Permit to build two new towers at its current location, but Scott Fybush reminds us that
previous variations of that CP have been allowed to lapse with no construction for much of the past decade. Additionally, Pathway Community Radio has a CP for a 250 watt translator, 93.9 W230CD Syracuse licensed to rebroadcast 1490.

Second. His first was down the road at WRUN in Utica, where his dad was the station manager.
