Update 3/19: 101.1 WYMY Burlington resumed broadcasting on Sunday with its “La Ley” format. The programming continues to simulcast on 96.9 WBZJ. Unlike the previous simulcast before 2013, all branding is still focused on 101.1.
Original Report 3/11: As its 101.1 WYMY Burlington, NC transmitter remains off air due to damage from an ice storm last week, Curtis Media has restored the station’s previous simulcast on 96.9 WBZJ Goldsboro.
96.9 had flipped to Urban AC “New 96.9” in January 2013 to compete against Radio-One’s “Foxy 107.1/104.3” WFXC/WFXK but only registered a 2.5 share in the Holiday PPM monthly, well below WFXC/WFXK’s 7.1.
According to a message on WYMY’s Facebook page from station GM Alex Mctighe, the station has been off the air since 3am last Friday and while the station is working to restore the signal as quickly as possible, the storm produced extreme damage to its facility.
