Update 8/31: WJSE made the flip to Alternative as expected at 12:00 this morning. The station will retain Bob & Tom in mornings from the previous format. The rest of the lineup features DJ Tanner in middays, Tum Tum in afternoons, and Cool Guy at night. Listen to the return of WJSE on FormatChange.com.
Update 8/5: WJSERocks.com now features the following video hyping the pending debut of the Rock format on Friday, August 31. The Bob & Tom Show, which was added to 106.3’s lineup earlier this summer will remain in place with the format change.
Original Report 7/8: On June 11, Classic Hits “Fun 106.3” WFNE North Cape May NJ changed call letters to WJSE. A format change to match the new calls appears to be on the verge.
From 1994 to 2010, the WJSE call letters were in the market on 102.7 Petersburg as the station went through many different identities all with some variation of Alternative Rock: “102.7 The Edge“, “Digital 102.7“, “102.7 The Ace“, and “102.7 WJSE Rocks“. The logo of the latter appears on WJSERocks.com now with the 106.3 frequency.
A Twitter account at @1063WJSE is tied to the name Jim Maschio. Maschio was previously programmer of webcaster WDOX.FM. His father Robert is the owner of 106.3 WJSE and sister AC “98.7 The Coast” WCZT under the name Coastal Broadcasting.
WFNE is currently one of four Classic Hits/Oldies stations serving Cape May County. It shifted from 106.7 to 106.3 in late 2011.
