Update 10/30: As has been long expected after exiting his short-lived position in San Diego, Jack Diamond is joining Cumulus Classic Hits 94.7 WLS-FM Chicago for mornings beginning Monday, November 3.
Diamond will join incumbents Brant Miller and Marti Jones in the 5:30-9am timeslot. He had a one week audition for the job back in July before choosing to go to San Diego instead. After leaving the job at “105.7 Max-FM” XHPRS-FM after just two weeks to return to his family in Washington D.C., Diamond will now make the move to Chicago.
Cumulus announces that Jack Diamond joins 94-7 WLS-FM as host of its morning show, debuting on Monday, November 3, from 5:30a.m.-9:00 a.m. Jack’s radio career includes positions at WRQX/Washington, where he hosted the morning show for 24 years; KSON/San Diego; WQXI/94Q Atlanta; KNBR/San Francisco; WRKO/Boston; WPRO/Providence and KIMN/Denver, among others.
Jan Jeffries, Cumulus Senior Vice President and Program Director of WLS said: “Jack’s positivity, fun and endearing qualities match perfectly with our current morning lineup, including air talent/meteorologist Brant Miller, Marty Jones with information and traffic updates and producer Dan Wolfe. This will be the third radio tour for Jack and me working together, previously in Atlanta and Washington, DC. What seemed like a fun idea to have him sit-in WLS-FM mornings for a week this summer turned out to be a great idea. If you don’t know Jack, you will soon! Welcome, Jack Diamond, to 94-7 WLS!”
Diamond said: “As a kid listening to the radio at night, WLS and WABC were the stations that sparked a desire to spend my life doing what those great personalities were doing from so many miles away. Pure magic. Hosting Mornings at 94-7 WLS is not only a career dream come true, it brings my career full circle and is truly “going home”. In a city with such great air talent through the years, it’s an honor to join them, past and present in Chicago. Thanks to John Dickey, Mike McVay, Market Manager Donna Baker and the one and only Jan Jeffries for the enthusiastic welcome and great opportunity at such a legendary radio station.”
Original Report 9/2: After just two weeks in mornings at Broadcast Company of Americas Classic Hits “105.7 Max-FM” XHPRS Tijuana/San Diego, Jack Diamond has exited to return home to his family in Washington, DC.
In a lengthy Facebook post, Diamond explained the issues his family faced in moving to San Diego and taking the blame for his quick San Diego exit.
SanDiegoRadio.org reports that Diamond may actually be heading to Cumulus Classic Hits 94.7 WLS-FM Chicago. Before taking the job in San Diego, Diamond had spent a week in Chicago auditioning for the morning show position there.
How does this guy keep getting great gigs? I hear he’s now headed BACK to Chicago for a sweet job?
