The announcement at 9:39am came with WRWM making its shift to Classic Hip-Hop complete with a rebranding to “93.9 The Beat“.
Original Report 1/25: 93.9 WRWM Fishers/Indianapolis is teasing a change for Monday, January 26 at 9:39am.
WRWM flipped to Classic Hip-Hop in December and rose from a 1.7 to 2.8 share with the new format in the Holiday 2014 Nielsen Audio PPM ratings despite having the new format in place for just about a third of the period. The station retained the “I94” branding from its previous Hot AC format, but has been calling itself “Indy’s 93.9” on-air as well.
That will likely be changing on Monday as Cumulus has registered 939TheBeat.com for WRWM. Is this just a matter of finally giving the Classic Hip-Hop format a branding better suited to the format, or is Cumulus using it as a long-term stunt similar to what it did at “Hot 93.3” in Dallas and headed for a flip to Urban or Rhythmic CHR?

Sounds like they might be going for a Rhythmic Top 40 direction based on the domain they just registered.
A month ago, I would have said no. Today I think you may well have been right with the idea that the eventual target is Hot 96.3.
Sidebar: has Radio One launched their 102.9 translator from the Post Road site?
Okay. So it’s just the name change. Yeah. History.
Since February 1993: Beautiful Music…Urban Oldies…Smooth Jazz…Hot Country…Contemporary Christian…Talk…AC…CHR…Hot AC…Classic Hip Hop…
Let the speculation begin on what Cumulus will do with that frequency when this has burned out 18 months from now.
Hey at least Cumulus carved out a working website this time unlike their DFW friends…
