After a weekend of stunting, American General Media Hot AC Mix 105.1” KKRG-FM Santa Fe/Albuquerque NM has moved to an emphasis on 1990s/2000s Hits.
While retaining the “Mix 105.1” branding, KKRG has repositioned as “Feel Good Throwbacks” emphasizing music from the 1990s and 2000s spotlighting core artists as Britney Spears, Eminem, Backstreet Boys, Nelly and Rihanna along with current artists such as Sabrina Carpenter, Bruno Mars and Ed Sheeran.
Program Director Jonathan Steele said, “We’re proud to bring something fresh and exciting to Albuquerque radio. Mix 105.1 is designed for people who grew up in the TRL era and want a station that reflects their energy, their memories, and their lifestyle today.”
Newly arrived Operations Manager Michelle Matthews added, “I’m so thrilled to be a part of the launch of the NEW sound of Mix 105-1! This station speaks to the lifestyle of women 25-49 who grew up on some of the best music of all time! I’m ready to watch Mix make a splash in Albuquerque-Santa Fe!”
Matthews will also host afternoons from 3-7pm with Steele moving to nights. She joins American General Media Albuquerque as cluster OM after exiting her role as Program Director of Cumulus Hot AC 96.3 WDVD Detroit last November. She previously spent eight years as OM/PD for Saga Communications Columbus from 2015 until April 2023. She previously served as Program Director of Classic Hits 103.3 KLOU St. Louis, Digital Program Director for iHeartMedia St. Louis, OM/Regional Programming Manager for Clear Channel Omaha, Wichita and Sioux City, Operations Manager for Saga Springfield IL, PD of KTOZ/KXUS Springfield MO, APD of KXPK Denver, and MD of KALC Denver during her career.
The station retains Premiere Networks’ “Brooke & Jeffrey” in mornings with Corinna Delgado tracking middays.

Well, I’ll be damned, soccer mommy John finally gets to program a 90s and 2K station. Love it, so many discussions we had about that music! Including the fact that you’re better off at least keeping a small number of currents or recent golds. It doesn’t need to be an oldies station, right now is a good time to be a hot AC because there are several directions you can choose. It seems this will be a format that absorbs this generations classic hits while understanding different generational attitudes toward new music. Of course Spice Girls sounds good near Sabrina Carpenter. i’m guessing so yesterday by Hilary Duff didn’t test. 🙂
