GI Family Radio has flipped two more stations in its Grand Island/Hastings/Kearney NE cluster.
Classic Country “103.5 The Legend” K278BR/KRGI-HD4 Grand Island got a boost from its 250 watt translator signal to the 100kW signal of 103.1 KKJK Ravenna as “103.1 KJ Country” this morning. Positioning as “The Best of the 90s, 2000s & Today”, the brand continues to flank sister “Country 96.5” KRGI-FM. KKJK competed directly with soon-to-be Usher Media Group CHR “Hits 106” 105.9 KQKY as “103.1 2Day-FM”
K278BR/KRGI-HD4 flipped on Saturday to Classic Hip Hop “Mix 103.5“. The new brand is listing core artists as including Nelly, Destiny’s Child, Kanye West, Outkast, Salt N Pepa, Usher, and Dr. Dre.
The moves follow GI Family Radio CEO Alan Usher’s acquiring NRG Media’s competing cluster in the region. Previously, the former Rock “Thunder 97.7/99.7” was broken-up with Christian AC “99.7 Jett-FM” K259CZ/KRGI-HD3 launching in January following a Christmas music stunt and Sports/Rock hybrid “97.7 The Zone” KMTY Gibbon debuting last Monday.
