Civic Media has shut down four of its stations in Wisconsin and cut ties with multiple on-air staffers.
Civic Media stated that the four stations were going silent “while it works through revenue and financial issues in the market.” The stations were Liberal Talk “96.9 WBZH” 910 WBZH/96.9 W245CT Hayward, 1490 WLCX La Crosse, and “98.3 WISS” simulcaster 1520 WZBU/96.5 W243ER New Holstein/Appleton and “St. Croix Country” 1260 WLAK/107.5 W298DK Amery, which simulcasts 95.7 WSCM Baldwin.
Multiple names have exited the company. Among the known departures are:
Jay Roberts exits as afternoon host on Variety Hits 105.7 WCFW Chippewa Falls/Eau Claire plus daily shifts on “99.7 Max-FM” WRPQ Baraboo and WSCM. Roberts previously has worked in markets including Minneapolis, Mankato MN, and Northern Minnesota.
Laura McKenna exits middays at WCFW and WSCM. McKenna previously spent twelve years in mornings at Cumulus AC “Star 98” WQLH Green Bay from 2009 to 2022.
