Total Media Group dropped the “100.9 Hank-FM” branding on Classic Country 100.9 WXIZ Waverly/Chillicothe OH on Friday, October 30 for “100.9 The Legend“.
Cluster Promotions Director and WXIZ morning host Lori Graves wrote, “The legends stay. The rules change. No corporate playlist. No out-of-town decisions. Just legendary Country. Locally owned. Locally programmed. Legendary everywhere.” She also added in a comment that the station will add music from the 2010s.
The station said, “Today is more than a name change for this radio station. We are celebrating something that matters to us at Total Media: local radio, run by local people, making decisions for the communities we serve. We have always believed that the best radio doesn’t come from a corporate office hundreds of miles away. It comes from the people who live here, work here, shop here, and raise their families here. The music that made 100.9 special isn’t going anywhere. We are keeping the legends of country and bringing even more great music into the family. But today, we are taking complete control of our own sound and our own identity. We are saying goodbye to Hank FM, but we are not saying goodbye to what made this station special. We are building on it. Welcome to the next chapter.”
Total Media continues to use the “Hank-FM” brand on 105.7 WLGC-FM Greenup KY/Ashland OH, 92.1 WYVK Middleport, and 101.3 WAGX Manchester.
