After moving their Classic Hits format to 94.5 last week, Berkshire Broadcasting has launched Country “107.3 The Bull” W297AN/WDAQ-HD3 Danbury CT.
Dan Hopkins, afternoon host at Hot AC “98Q” WDAQ and PD of Alternative “103.7 Rock” W279CI adds programming duties for The Bull, which will run commercial-free for the rest of the Summer.
After a weekend of playing only Christmas songs during its “Christmas in July” stunting, Berkshire Broadcasting (Danbury, Connecticut) has “gone country” at noon today on 107.3FM (W297AN), the frequency vacated by the company’s classic hits station and relocated to 94.5FM (W233CF) last Thursday.
The new station, “1073 THE BULL,” is programming the biggest recent country hits and positioning as “Connecticut’s NEW Country.” WDAQ HD-3 is the originating station for “1073 THE BULL.”
Dan Hopkins, afternoon personality at 98Q (WDAQ) and program director of “103.7 Danbury’s New Rock Alternative” (W279CI), adds programming duties for “1073 THE BULL.”
“There are country stations receivable in our market,” says Hopkins. “But they largely target New York State or upstate Connecticut and also include much older country titles in their playlists. ‘1073 THE BULL’ will focus exclusively on both the Greater Danbury area and the younger end of the country listening audience.”
“1073 THE BULL” is introducing the station with a “Commercial Free Summer.” Among the featured artists are Keith Urban, Carrie Underwood, Blake Shelton, Jason Aldean, Luke Bryan, Tim McGraw, Florida Georgia Line, Kenny Chesney, Zac Brown Band, Eric Church and Sam Hunt.
Berkshire Broadcasting is the owner/operator of the following stations in the Danbury, Connecticut Nielsen market: WLAD (N/T), WDAQ (“98Q”/Hot A/C), WAXB/W233CF (Classic Hits), WDAQ HD-2/W279CI (Alternative) and WDAQ HD-3/W297AN (Country).
The addition of “1073 THE BULL” further enhances the ability of Berkshire Broadcasting to superserve both listeners and advertisers. “With five different formats across our station platform, Berkshire Broadcasting can now satisfy listener preferences and match advertiser demographic targets better than ever,” says President/CEO Irv Goldstein.
