University of Nevada-Las Vegas’s “91.5 The Source” KUNV Las Vegas has won its battle with co-owned Nevada Public Radio to prevent the student run station from being taken over by its public radio brother.
The Las Vegas Sun reports that the university has decided to keep KUNV as part of the school of journalism as opposed to transferring it to Nevada Public Radio, which intended to flip the station to AAA as its third programming service in Las Vegas along with Public News/Talk 88.9 KNPR and Classical 89.7 KCNV. The school is also planning to increase its radio education by adding two new classes and an enhanced internship program.
KUNV features a diverse mix of featuring Jazz from 7am to 7pm weekdays, and blocks of other music at other times including Indie Rock, Hip-Hop, Electronica, Reggae, and Blues.
