Radio-One took over operations of 105.3 WNOW-FM Charlotte today and launched Urban Oldies “Old School 105.3“.
The station which had been airing a Regional Mexican format as “Poder 105.3” will now focus on R&B Hits of the 70s and 80s. 105.3 began stunting with construction sounds this morning before launching the new format at 5:00pm. Listen to the debut of Old School 105.3 at FormatChange.com.
The company runs a similar format on 94.5 KSOC Dallas. However, it appears that this will lead to a coming change as sister Urban AC “My 92.7” WQNC. All of 92.7’s web properties have been converted for 105.3’s use with banners welcoming My 92.7 listeners. For now 92.7 continues programming as usual.
Radio-One announced the purchase of WNOW-FM earlier this month with a planned takeover date of September 4.
