Clear Channel Rhythmic CHR “93.9 Kiss-FM” WKSL Cary, NC flipped to Country “New Country B93.9” at 4pm today.
Launching with a commercial-free weekend, the station’s playlist is completely current/recurrent based to differentiate itself from competitor 94.7 WQDR. The syndicated Bobby Bones show will debut in mornings on December 2.
The move gives WQDR its first competitor since Clear Channel shifted 106.1 WRDU to Talk in November 2009. The lack of competition has made WQDR the #1 station in the market with an 8.4 share in the October PPMs. WKSL’s Rhythmic format was tenth with a 3.4.
Kiss-FM signed off with Pitbull’s “Timber” before segueing into Luke Bryan’s “That’s My Kind Of Night”.
A farewell message to Kiss listeners has been posted on the website of sister CHR “G105” WDCG.
