It was a year ago today when Clear Channel launched Rhythmic Oldies “95.7 Kiss-FM” KSSX San Diego.
As it returns from a few weeks of Christmas music, Kiss has shifted to Rhythmic Hot AC to position itself against Local Media of San Diego’s Rhythmic CHR “Z90” XHITZ. Now branded as “Today’s Rhythm and All The Best Throwbacks!”, the station is focusing on Rhythmic Pop of the last 25 years.
The station describes its new format in a Facebook post as,
KISS FM is proud to present the only radio station in San Diego playing today’s hits and all the best throwbacks from the 90’s, 2000’s, and even the 80’s!
Rihanna – 2PAC – TLC – Beyonce – Biggie – Pitbull – Justin Timberlake – LL Cool J – Usher – SWV – Jennifer Lopez – Bruno Mars – Eminem – Snoop – Destiny’s Child – Micahel Jackson – Jay-Z – Shakira – Kris Kross – Robin Thicke – Puff Daddy – Mariah Carey – Heavy D – Aaliyah and on…
This is something BRAND NEW for San Diego – A present to YOU from US for the New Year!
Stay close for all of the new things happening in the year with the new KISS FM. Things like: Taco Tuesdays in Old Town, Throwback Thursdays, Chio’s House Party, World Tour Stops, Disneyland tickets, a trip to hang with Usher, and much more!
KSSX dropped from a 1.7 share in October to a 1.2 share in the November PPMs prior to its move to Christmas music. By then it had already shifted from Rhythmic Oldies to Rhythmic AC, but was still featuring a heavy amount of disco and 1980s music.
