Corus Classic Rock “Classic Rock 101” CFMI-FM New Westminister/Vancouver has dropped most of its remaing 1960s music from its playlist and rebranded as simply “Rock 101” with the addition of more 90s music.
The station’s positions shifts from “Best of the 60s, 70s and 80s” to “Greatest Hits 70s, 80s, 90s”. The usage of “Greatest Hits” coincides with Newcap’s launch of Classic Hits “LG104.3” last month which happens to be branded as “Vancouver’s Greatest Hits”.
CFMI registered a 6.0 share in the February-May Numeris (formerly BBM) ratings.
This move is similar to what Corus did a few months ago at Toronto’s Q107. However, that station’s playlist appears to be at least a bit harder and newer.
