Update 4:05pm: Travis’ co-hosts Blaine Bishop and Brent Dougherty began their show today announcing that Travis has exited his position with the station, obviously not giving him a chance to make a final on-air appearance. They quickly plugged his other positions and his social media accounts before moving on with the show.
Original Report 8/26 3:15pm: Clay Travis is exiting Cumulus Sports “104.5 The Zone” WGFX Nashville’s afternoon “3 Hour Lunch” after his show on Thursday, August 28.
Travis writes on his FoxSports.com blog that months after telling Cumulus with his contract expiring, he wished to stay at the station for a market competitive deal. After offering Travis a $5,000 raise, he has decided to exit the station.
I thank Cumulus for one thing, they made my decision to leave incredibly easy. If the company had been remotely competitive with its offer, I was inclined to stay. Instead of doing radio this fall, I’ll spend my time writing on Outkick, doing television for Fox, and welcoming another baby boy to the Travis household.
Travis states he will make a decision on his radio future in early 2015.
In addition to WGFX, Travis is a College Football analyst for Fox Sports and writes for their Outkick The Coverage blog. The status of Travis’ co-hosts Blaine Bishop and Brent Dougherty is unknown at this time.
