In past years we’ve come to expect year-end layoffs throughout the radio industry as budgets are put in place for the new year. This year CBS Radio has been the home of the most cuts as the company prepares for its life separate from the overlooking eye of its soon-to-be former parent.
Slowly over the past few weeks many employees have been let go at CBS Radio while previously open job openings will not be filled. LARadio.com reported last week that three were let got at News 1070 KNX Los Angeles with news anchor Linda Nunez, sports anchor Steve Grad, and reporter Ed Mertz exiting. Chris Angelo writes that he has been let go as Production Director at Classic Hits 101.1 WCBS-FM New York.
Classic Hits 98.1 WOGL Philadelphia morning co-host Valerie Knight is gone after 15 years with the station. Chris Jackson exits as APD/MD/midday host at Hot AC “Mix 96.5” KHMX Houston. Jackson joined KHMX from sister KXTE Las Vegas in March and follows the departure of VP/Programming Charese Fruge last month.
