WKTI Makes Morning Change

Lance Ventaby Lance Venta
October 11, 2017

94.5 The Lake WLWK KTI Country WKTI Milwaukee Scripps Danny ClaytonScripps Media Country “94.5 KTI Country” WKTI Milwaukee has parted ways with morning host Jake Kelly.

Kelly’s departure comes on the heels of his partner Tanner Jay’s exit last July. The duo joined WKTI from Midwest Communications CHR 101.1 WIXX Green Bay in November 2015. Their departure continues a reshuffling of the talent at the station that started with the arrival of former 106.1 WMIL morning co-host Karen Dallesandro for afternoons last month.

Carol ‘CV’ Vonn, most recently morning co-host at Milwaukee Radio Alliance AC “B93.3” WLDB until her own exit last April, is joining WKTI as interim morning host.

    “Interim”.

Probably until WKTI-94.5 picks-up either the syndicated Bobby Bones or “Ty, Kelly and Chuck” morning shows (both of which I don’t think have a Milwaukee affiliate).

Big D & Bubba isn’t carried in Milwaukee, either; however, Scripps isn’t going to pick up any of them. The company continues to play up the fact that–unlike iHeart-owned competitor WMIL–it’s locally staffed throughout the day.

Hopefully, Scripps will keep mornings local.

Why the change? I thought WKTI’s ratings, for the most part, were considerably improved this year over last year.

I wonder if they will bring in the former morning show from Y108 in Pittsburgh.
