After stunting with Christmas Music since Halloween, American General Media flipped the former Classic Hip-Hop “Yo! 105.1” KKRG Santa Fe/Albuquerque to Hot AC “Mix 105.1” at midnight.
Launching with the standard 10,000 songs commercial-free, the new format is taking dead aim at iHeartMedia’s market leading “100.3 The Peak” KPEK and creating a flanker to sister Rhythmic CHR “Kiss 97.3” KKSS. While no web or social presence is live for the station, it can be streamed here.
Original Report 10/31: American General Media has made its second big change since closing on its acquisition of Univision’s Albuquerque properties as Classic Hip-Hop “Yo! 105.1” KKRG Santa Fe/Albuquerque has gone All-Christmas as “Santa 105.1“.
KKRG was one of two stations in Albuquerque in the Classic Hip-Hop format yet led iHeartMedia’s “Hot 95.1” KOLZ Corrales by a 2.2 share to 1.7 share margin in the Summer Nielsen Audio ratings.
The move follows AGM’s move of Regional Mexican “La Jefa” from 101.3 to 860/102.9 last month.
