There was no outright format change at Cumulus Country “Nash-FM 101.7” KAYD Silsbee/Beaumont TX after stunting for a month with Christmas Music as “Santa 101.7“.
There were a handful of changes though to accompany the station as it returned to Country. Despite retaining the “Nash-FM” name, KAYD is now utilizing the gold based “Nash Icon” music library. Rowdy Yates, most recently morning host at Scripps’ 98.5 KVOO Tulsa, has joined KAYD for afternoons. Yates is best known locally for his long run in the adjacent Houston market at both 95.7 KIKK and 100.3 KILT and also hosts the syndicated “Original Country Gold“.
KAYD has also dropped the syndicated Big D & Bubba from mornings.

KAYD is currently running Christmas Music as “Santa 101.7” in what is usually a telltale sign of a change coming after the holiday season. KAYD registered a mere 1.9 share in the Spring 2017 Nielsen Audio ratings placing well behind iHeartMedia’s “Kicker 95.1” KYKR’s 6.9 share. Cumulus Country 96.1 KYKZ Lake Charles LA also holds a Construction Permit that will give the station coverage of the Beaumont/Port Arthur market should it be built out before it expires on December 7.
With no Adult Contemporary station in the Beaumont/Port Arthur market will that be the direction the station takes on December 26?
