KTUX completed its shift to Classic Rock as “Highway 98.9” this morning.
The Walton & Johnson Show, most recently at Alpha Media’s “98 Rocks” 98.1 KTAL-FM Texarkana TX/Shreveport, is added for mornings. Jen Austin, midday host at “Classic Rock 96.1” KKTX-FM Kilgore/Tyler TX will voicetrack middays, while Brandon Michael remains in afternoons.
KTUX will now compete directly with KTAL-FM for the Classic Rock audience in the Shreveport market.

The station is currently branding as just “98.9” as a move to Classic Rock and the addition of the Walton & Johnson morning show are forthcoming. Walton & Johnson were dropped from Alpha Media’s “98 Rocks” 98.1 KTAL-FM Texarkana TX/Shreveport in late December and KTUX is promoting its arrival for Monday morning after dropping Free Beer & Hot Wings in late 2017. Townsquare has added Walton & Johnson while making flips to Classic Rock in Lafayette LA and Temple TX over the course of 2017.
