VMT Media’s 107.1 WLIR Hampton Bays NY is on the verge of a format change.
WLIR dropped its Christian “Hope Radio” programming on January 1 and is currently running an unbranded mix of Oldies and Classic Rock along with 96.9 W245BA Manorville NY (which had been simulcasting Soft AC 94.7 WLIX-LP until that station’s sign-off on December 31).
VMT Media, headed by Vincent Trapiani, bought out Richard Anderson’s Holding Out Hope Church’s 51% share of the station last May for assumption of debt and a three year non-compete agreement that started on January 1. Anderson retained the station’s three translators 94.9 W235BB Hauppage, 96.5 W243BF Shirley, and 104.5 W283BA Selden although two of those were sold to Educational Media Foundation in July for $250,000 in a deal that has yet to close.
The three translators will continue to carry Hope Radio’s programming from 6am-1pm Weekdays and 11am-2pm Sundays in a deal with Radio Cantico Nuevo’s 1440 WNYG/106.9 W295CK Medford NY. The three Hope translators will be fed by WNYG and carry its Spanish Christian programming in other hours.
