“100.3 The Sound” St. Louis Launches

Lance Ventaby Lance Venta
December 26, 2009

he Sound STLSound WSDD Modern Music 100.3 The Beat KATZ St. Louis STL Christmas XMas Halloween Rock 1003

Update 12/26: At 12:00am, the holiday music stunting came to an end leading into the debut of “100.3 The Sound – St. Louis’ Modern Music” and new WSDD call letters. The station’s first hour consisted of:

Owl City – Fireflies
Gin Blossoms – Follow You Down
Matt Nathanson – Come On Get Higher
Daughtry – No Surprise
Jimmy Eat World – The Middle
Kings Of Leon – Sex On Fire
The All-American Rejects – Gives You Hell
Sugar Ray – Someday
Plain White T’s – 1,2,3,4
Nickelback – Never Gonna Be Alone
The Black Crowes – Hard To Handle
KT Tunstall – Suddenly I See
Blues Traveler – Run-Around
Five For Fighting – 100 Years
Midnight Oil – Beds Are Burning

Original Entry 10/30: A format change appears to be imminent at Clear Channel Urban “100.3 The Beat” KATZ-FM ST. Louis. A number of newly registered domains are all pointing to the now bare-bones KATZ website hinting at the short-term and long-term futures for the station: Halloween1003.com, STLHalloween.com, Christmas1003.com, STLChristmas.com, and ChristmasSTL.com tease holiday music in the near future, with a permanent flip to Rock on the horizon via Rock1003.com, Rock1003STL.com, and STLRock1003.com. A flip to Rock of any sort will put the station into battle with Emmis’ Classic Rock 94.7 KSHE and Modern Rock “105.7 The Point” KPNT.

I agree!!! Please bring back the Sound! I’ve had to go back to Pandora and satellite radio so I can hear great music like Florence + the Machine. Why the change?

I agree. I had 100.3 the sound on my radio at all times, i was glad to FINALLY find a good station. Now i can not even stand to turn 100.3 on. I would almost rather have the beat back.

Agree–Genx sucks! I won’t listen to it anymore. The Sound was a really good station and now it is ruined! And there aren’t many stations to listen to at all. All of my friends spread the word and listened. I thought it was doing well. As one of the on air personalities would say in his feature ‘WTF’ this is now crap.
