GHB Broadcasting Gospel 1480 WYZE Atlanta has suspended operations potentially permanently.
The 10kW day/44w night AM has “technical issues regarding its signal” that were “too cost prohibitive to fix” according to a statement GHB Broadcasting Vice President Jacob Bogan gave to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. They would like to relocate the station to a new tower and resume operations while selling the current site. WYZE is the third Atlanta area AM to go dark this year following 1690 WMLB Avondale Estates in May and then 1210 WDGR Dahlongea turning in its license earlier this month.
WYZE had featured a mostly brokered Gospel format since 1980 with music in drive times and preaching at midday and night.
