Oak Ridge FM is preparing to debut a new format on 1120 WVLZ Maryville/97.1 W246DH Knoxville TN as the stations are stunting with Soft Christmas Music with a Country lean branded as “Tender Tennessee Christmas“.
Oak Ridge FM acquired the programming rights to WVLZ/W246DH as part of its deal to sell 1120 WKCE Knoxville/101.5 W268BP Rockville TN to Mid Century Radio in September. At that time both stations swapped call letters and the Oldies format of 1120 began simulcasting on 1180, where it will now remain. The station is also running sweepers redirecting the WKCE audience to 1180.W
The “Tender Tennessee Christmas” name comes from the 1983 song written by Gary Chapman and Amy Grant first made famous by Alabama. WVLZ can be heard online here.
