Cumulus Media is making morning changes at four of its stations in Toledo to ring in 2019.
The moves start with Lyn Casye and Cliff Smithers moving from Classic Hits 93.5 WRQN to Country “K100” 99.9 WKKO to join incumbent host Gary Shores. Shores has been with WKKO since 1975 and programmed the station from 1985 until earlier this year. Casey and Smithers fill the co-host opening created by the passing of Harvey Steele last December.
To fill the morning show opening at WRQN, The Denny Schaffer Show will slide down the hall from CHR “Q105.5” WQQO. Denny Schaffer, co-host Suzie Moser and producer Paul Spoerl will be replaced by current evening host Eric Chase. Chase previously anchored mornings on iHeartMedia CHR “92.5 Kiss-FM” WVKS in Toledo until his exit in June 2017.
The final move will be at Classic Rock 94.5 WXKR where Mark Benson will retire after 22 years with the station on December 21. He will be replaced by Jeremy ‘Pyke’ Peterson. Peterson, who has worked at stations including WXRK New York, WKSC and WLUP Chicago, WMRQ Hartford and WSSR Tampa during his career, previously worked in Toledo at iHeart’s 104.7 WIOT from 2005-2014.
