WKTU Program Director Rob Miller Moves To Miami As Senior VP/Programming & Executive VP/Hot AC

iHeartMedia has announced that 103.5 WKTU New York Program Director Rob Miller is moving to Miami to take on the dual role of Senior Vice President of Programming for the South Florida region and Executive Vice President of Hot AC Programming and Strategy for iHeartMedia’s National Programming Group.

In his new position Miller will oversee day-to-day programming operations in the company’s Miami cluster as well as the West Palm Beach, Fort Pierce, and Fort Myers markets. He will also work closely with the company’s Hot AC stations across the country.

Miller has programmed WKTU since October 2006 after previously programming AC 97.5 WALK-FM Patchouge NY. He began his career at WALK-FM as an intern and gradually moved up the ladder to night host to APD and then PD in 2001.

Miller’s appointment to the SPV/Programming position fills the role previously held by Alex Tear. Tear joined Clear Channel Miami in 2009 as Operations Manager and Program Director of CHR “Y100” 100.7 WHYI after previously programming in Pittsburgh and Detroit. No word yet on Tear’s status with the company.

iHeartMedia announced today that Rob Miller has been named Senior Vice President of Programming for the South Florida region. In addition, Miller has also been elevated to Executive Vice President of Hot AC Programming and Strategy for iHeartMedia National Programming Group.

In his new role as Senior Vice President of Programming, Miller will be responsible for the day to day operations in the Miami and Fort Lauderdale markets and will lead some of the most iconic brands and personalities in the South Florida Region, which includes West Palm Beach, Fort Pierce, Fort Myers, Naples and Punta Gorda. As Executive Vice President of Hot AC Programming, he will work closely with several iHeartMedia stations throughout the United States. Miller will report to Brian Olson, Division President and Region President for iHeartMedia South Florida.

“I’ve had the pleasure of working closely with Rob for the past 10 years on 939 MIA,” said Olson. “He’s one of the most dedicated and hardworking individuals in our industry and I’m excited for Rob to lead our teams across South Florida.”

“Rob has done a brilliant job programming the iconic 103.5 KTU and leading iHeartMedia’s Hot AC stations,” said Tom Poleman, Chief Programming Officer for iHeartMedia. “He’s one of the best programmers I know and I have tremendous confidence in his ability to now lead the programming of our South Florida stations.”

Miller is a media veteran who has been with iHeartMedia for nearly three decades. He joins the South Florida Region from 103.5 KTU in New York where he served as Program Director for the past 12 years. Miller also served as Program Director for WALK-FM in Long Island, New York and is a graduate of Dowling College in Long Island.

“South Florida has always held a special place in my heart and Miami has been like a second home to me,” said Miller. “I love the energy, diversity and pride of the city and I’m excited to lead our legendary brands and collaborate with our marquee personalities. Thank you iHeartMedia – what an amazing way to celebrate my third decade in radio.”
