Samuel Rogatinsky’s Gulf Coast Broadcasting has relaunched the first of the three stations they acquired from Powell Broadcasting.
Variety Hits “105.1 Bob-FM” WASJ Panama City Beach quietly returned to the air this past weekend with its previous format intact. WASJ and its sister stations have been off the air since the landfall of Hurricane Michael on October 10. Powell quickly decided to not resume operations in the market with COO Robert Bond telling us, “We have made the difficult decision to cease broadcasting operations in Panama City. Hurricane Michael did catastrophic damage to our physical plant to the point that rebuilding was uneconomic. We wish the entire Panama City community Godspeed in rebuilding.”
The former “Classic Rock 95.9” WRBA Springfield and Country “Kick’n 103.5” WKNK Callaway remain off the air for now. Gulf Coast Broadcasting acquired the three stations in December for $325,000.
