Forever Media has flipped Sports “ESPN 1430” WVAM Altoona PA to Oldies “Toona 1430“.
The station is utilizing Westwood One’s Good Time Oldies network focusing on music of the 1960s and 70s where it will flank co-owned Classic Hits 103.9 WALY Bellwood. One facet of the former format will remain as “Sports Central with Cory Giger” will remain in the 4-6pm timeslot. The program also airs on Forever’s “ESPN 1450” WQWK in the adjacent State College market.

It would be interesting to see if another AM station nearby steps up and gets the ESPN affiliation.
Bob says: Hopefully not for too long, but who knows. I could possibly see WRTA picking up the slack a little bit, as they already have some sports programs on currently on the evenings/weekends.
