Natural Bridges Media launched Community “90.7 K-Squid” KSQD Santa Cruz CA on Friday, February 15.
The station fills the market void created by Pataphysical Broadcasting Foundation flipping 88.9 KUSP Santa Cruz from Public News/Talk to AAA and then selling it and its translators to Educational Media Foundation for $605,000 in 2016. The group that would become KSQD agreed to purchase 90.7 KSRI from EMF for $265,000 in January 2017 with the deal not filed at the FCC until May 2018 once the group raised the necessary funds.
The station will feature a mix of syndicated programming such as Democracy Now and Thom Hartman and local talk and music from an all-volunteer staff.
