Cumulus Media is swapping frequencies of two of its stations in Muskegon MI on Monday, April 1.
Country “92.5 Nash Icon” WLAW will move to 97.5 Whitehall, while AC “Sunny 97.5” WWSN makes the reverse move to 92.5 Newaygo. The move appears to be an aftershock of the January format changes made in the adjacent Grand Rapids market as the move of the Country format to 97.5 will help fill the loss of a Cumulus Country signal along the Lake Michigan coast created by WTNR’s move to the more inland 107.3 signal from 94.5.
Nash Icon has proven to be a very unpopular station. Many people were upset when The Outlaw gave way to Nash Icon. (Thanks John Dickey!)
I think one of two things is going to happen here. Either 97.5 is going to simulcast 107.3 (there is less areal overlap between 97.5 & 107.3 than there is between 92.5 & 107.3) or 97.5 is going to return to a Sports format.
