Van Michael’s Backyard Broadcasting of Pennsylvania will pay $5.9 million for the seven station Williamsport PA cluster.
Current owner Daniel Farr paid $5.5 million when he acquired the group that he had previously served as VP/GM for in August 2013. Farr has signed a three year noncompete in terms of owning stations in the Williamsport market and a consulting agreement with the new Backyard.
Original Report 6/24: The Daniel Farr led Backyard Broadcasting has announced it will sell its six stations all in the Williamsport PA market to Van Michael’s Backyard Broadcasting of Pennsylvania.
Michael previously owned 1050 WLYC and Country 105.1 WILQ Williamsport in the mid 90s. While WLYC is no longer co-owned, the deal reunites the Country powerhouse with him. The other stations involved in the deal are Classic Hits 93.3 WBZD Muncy, Classic Rock 99.3 WZXR South Williamsport/103.7 WCXR Lewisburg, AC 107.9 WLMY Williamsport, and Sports “ESPN 101.3” WWPA/W267BJ Williamsport.
This is to announce that a contract has been signed and an application is being filed with the FCC for the transfer of radio station WILQ-FM, WLMY-FM, WWPA-AM, W267BJ, Williamsport; WZXR-FM, South Williamsport; WCXR-FM, Lewisburg; and WBZD-FM, Muncy; all in Pennsylvania, from Backyard Broadcasting PA, LLC to Backyard Broadcasting of Pennsylvania, LLC.
The Seller, Backyard Broadcasting PA, LLC, is a Pennsylvania-based company headed by Daniel J. Farr. Backyard Broadcasting has no other broadcast interests.
The Buyer, Backyard Broadcasting of Pennsylvania, LLC, is a Pennsylvania-based company headed by Van A. Michael. Backyard Broadcasting of Pennsylvania has no other broadcast interests.
