FCC Actions

The FCC has denied Results Broadcasting Rhinelander Inc.’s request to waive the final payment deadline for its two CPs won in the 2013 FCC Auction 94. Results had bid $35,000 to win the rights to a Class C3 on 100.9 in Tomahawk WI and a Class A on 103.1 in Crandon WI. The company missed the deadline of June 12, 2013 to submit its final payment or bid plus late fee by June 26 of that year. Instead it submitted its final payment on July 24, 2013 along with the waiver request that stated their missing the deadline was “strictly inadvertent and the result of a horrible mistake.” Sticking with precedence, the FCC has denied the petition and will place the allocations in its next auction whenever that may be.

The FCC has rejected Emmanuel Communications application for review regarding its application for 99.1 W256DN Worcester MA. Plymouth Rock Broadcasting’s 99.1 WPLM-FM Plymouth MA had filed a petition to deny claiming the new translator would cause interference to its station that the FCC approved with Emmanuel then claiming the FCC should have instead allowed them to file a contingent displacement application or to negotiate a settlement with Plymouth Rock, which the FCC rejected as not being in line with its rules.

Deletions

After being issued a warning that their licenses would be deleted if no renewal application was filed by October 1, the FCC has deleted the licenses of Shenandoah Valley Group Americana 1230 WAMM Woodstock VA, Ward Broadcasting Gospel 1480 WTOY Salem VA, and Tri-Cities Broadcasting’s Southern Gospel 1050 WGAT Gate City VA. Prior to surrendering its license WAMM did swap call letters with co-owned 790 WSVG Mount Jackson.

Rama Communications’ 910 WRFV Valdosta GA was deleted after the FCC logged in July that the station had not been broadcasting for some time and the station’s towers no longer existed.

Christian Broadcasting of De Ridder has surrendered the license of 1010 KDLA De Ridder LA with estate executor Katrina Chase stating, “I was appointed executor of this estate late 2015. It has been a lot of confusion trying to figure out the estate and this radio station.” No transfer of control had ever been filed to place Chase in charge of the license.

Waco Entertainment Group has surrendered its Construction Permit for a new Class A on 98.5 in Lometa TX.

La Favorita Radio Network has surrendered 104.5 K283AY West Point, 105.7 K289AJ West Point and 106.7 K294AW Arnold CA.

FM Changes

Due to the FCC’s conversion to the new License Management System from the CDBS for modification applications and some bugs remaining preventing the viewing of attachments in the filings, we are holding off publishing the FM and Translator changes this week with the hope the issues are resolved for next week
