After a weekend of stunting, Cumulus Media has flipped Country 97.9 KQFC Boise to Soft AC “Magic 97.9“.
The new format positions KQFC up against Townsquare Media AC “107.9 Lite-FM” KXLT and Lotus Classic Hits “107.1 K-Hits” KTHI. The station is positioning as “The Magic Is In The Music”.
Joining the company as Program Director/morning host is Lisa Adams. Adams most recently programmed “98.9 The Bull” KNUC Seattle and has also programmed 92.5 KQMV, 98.9 KLCK, and 96.5 KYPT in that market and “Jammin 107.5” KXJM Portland. She also worked in Boise as PD of 107.9 KXLT from 2009-2014. Bret Connors will remain in afternoons through the format change, while former KQFC morning host Steve Shannon moves to afternoons at KIZN. News/Talk 670 KBOI morning co-host Mike Kasper, who served as PD/Morning host at KZMG from 1991 through 2002, will serve as morning newscaster on KQFC as well.
The “Magic” brand was heard on Cumulus’ 93.1 KZMG and was the heritage CHR brand from 1990 through 2009 when it rebranded as “93.1 Hit Music Now“. In 2011, the station flipped to Sports as “The Ticket” which it remains as to this day.
