Blarney Stone Broadcasting will launch AC “North-FM” on Mitten News LLC’s 94.5 WYPV Mackinaw City/106.3 WWMN Thompsonville MI on Thursday, November 7.
The new format will assume the programming and staff that had been on 101.9 WLDR Traverse City until mid-October. That station, one of four that had been operated by Blarney Stone Broadcasting via LMA from Roy Henderson’s N Content Marketing, is currently off-the-air after Henderson sued Blarney Stone. The other stations off-the-air are WLDR simulcaster 750 WARD Petoskey, 92.3 WBNZ Frankfort which had been simulcasting “Up North Sports” 101.1 WGRY-FM Roscommon, and 99.3 WQAN Beulah which had been simulcasting Rock “Q100” 100.3 WQON Grayling. Blarney Stone Broadcasting began operating the stations in October 2018.
“North-FM” will feature the recently launched “Finster In The Morning” hosted by Sean ‘Finster’ Finnegan and Abbey Courtney. The pair had joined WLDR in September following the expiration of Finnegan’s one year non-compete following his exit from MacDonald Garber Broadcasting Variety Hits “104.5 Bob-FM” WZTC. Jeff ‘JJ’ Rowell remains in afternoons, while 106.3 WWMN will replace WLDR as the Traverse City affiliate for Detroit Lions football.
WYPV and WWMN had been simulcasting Conservative Talk 1110 WJML Petoskey/1210 WJNL Kingsley.
