WQNA Goes Silent With Covenant Network Purchase

88.3 WQNA Springfield Capital Area Career CenterAfter announcing its intent to sell the station in August due to lack of students, Capital Area Career Center has taken 88.3 WQNA Springfield IL silent ahead of a sale to Covenant Network.

While not yet filed with the FCC, The State Journal-Register reports that the St. Louis based Catholic operator will pay $47,000 for WQNA. Covenant Network already has a Springfield presence on a pair of translators in the city: 88.9 W205BG and 104.9 W285EX Springfield.

Springfield Community Broadcasters, a non-profit formed by the people whose programming mostly made up the WQNA lineup released a statement that they were in the process of acquiring another license in the Springfield market to resume their programming on.
