After a month as “Billings’ Christmas Station”, Desert Mountain Broadcasting News/Talk 730 KYYA Billings MT has resurrected the heritage “K-Bear” branding in the market with a flip to Oldies.
The new “98.1 K-Bear” restores the branding and format that was utilized on Townsquare Media’s 97.1 KKBR from 1993 until its flip to CHR in 2013. The new iteration is focusing on 1950s through 70s music positioning as “Good Times, Great Oldies” as a flanker to co-owned Classic Hits “My 105.9” KWMY.
Original Report 11/27: Desert Mountain Broadcasting News/Talk 730 KYYA Billings MT has signed-on translator 98.1 K251CI Billings and used the addition of the FM signal to begin stunting with Christmas Music as “Billings’ Christmas Station” at 10am local time.
With the flip of AC “105.1 Star-FM” KYSX to Rock “105.1 The Bone” last January, KYYA fills the Christmas Music position in a market currently lacking an Adult Contemporary station.
KYYA held a 1.4 share in the Springs 2019 Nielsen Audio ratings with a lineup that featured a local morning show from 8-10am, Fox News Radio’s Brian Kilmeade and Tom Sullivan and Westwood One’s Mark Levin. That placed it well behind Townsquare Media’s “News Talk 95.5” 970 KBUL/95.5 KCHH/95.1 K236AB.
