QUU has appointed Steve Newberry as Chief Executive Officer effective April 1, 2020.
Newberry joins QUU from his role as Executive Vice President for Industry Affairs and Strategic Planning for the National Association of Broadcasters, where he will remain until March 31 to complete a transition and the opening of the NAB’s new headquarters. Newberry will also gain an equity stake in the company and will also continue to serve as Chariman of Commonwealth Broadcasting, which operates stations in central and southern Kentucky.
QUU develops visual technology tied to HD Radio receivers to synchronize call-to-action messages and company logos alongside advertisements.
QUU, a pioneer in driving the evolution of radio, announces veteran media executive Steve Newberry has been named Chief Executive Officer of the company, effective April 1, 2020. In addition, he will serve on the Company’s Board of Directors and receive an equity stake in QUU.
Newberry currently serves as Executive Vice President for Industry Affairs and Strategic Planning at the National Association of Broadcasters (NAB), where he has been responsible for overseeing multiple NAB projects, including the organization’s outreach and initiatives with the automotive industry and construction of a new NAB headquarters in the Capitol Riverfront section of Washington, DC.
Newberry will continue in his current role until March 31, 2020 to ensure a smooth transition and completion of the official opening of the NAB’s new headquarters.

Newberry began his broadcasting career at the young age of 14 and became a station owner at the age of 21. Besides serving as NAB Joint Board chair and Radio Board chair, he served as president of the Kentucky Broadcasters Association. Newberry has also been active in public broadcasting, having served for six years as a member of the national board of trustees of America’s Public Television Stations and five years as chairman of the Authority for Kentucky Educational Television. The broadcast veteran has testified on Capitol Hill on behalf of NAB on multiple occasions.
Newberry will remain in his role as Chairman of Glasgow, Kentucky-based Commonwealth Broadcasting. He will be based in Washington, DC.
