FCC Actions
Ahead of the next FCC auction in April of 130 FM allocations, the FCC has notified potential applicants of restrictions for the highest profile one being offered. The Class B on 107.9 in Sacramento CA must retain its short-spaced protections to Cumulus Media’s 107.7 KSAN San Mateo. Any applicant will be limited to 50 kW ERP and an average height above average terrain of 123 meters in the direction of KSAN.
Townsquare Media’s Classic Hits 1110 WUPE Pittsfield MA has been issued a Notice of Violation for operating beyond its licensed daytime only parameters on November 29, 30 and December 1.
The FCC has rejected Prometheus Radio Project’s petition for reconsideration for the grant of a CP to Mega-Philadelphia LLC’s 106.5 W293DS Camden NJ. Prometheus’ argument was based upon their interpretation of the Local Community Radio Act that the translator could impede a potential move of 106.5 WPPM-LP Philadelphia to the Northwest and that the rules for translator Auction 83 are required to be used for all further translator filing windows. While licensed to Camden to match parent 1310 WEMG, the translator is planned to serve the western suburbs of Philadelphia near Ardmore PA.
Deletions
After being silent for much of the past seven years, Cumulus Media has surrendered the license for 1300 WIBR Baton Rouge LA.
Almavision of Miami’s 1500 WKIZ Key West FL has been deleted after being silent for over one year.
After the FCC affirmed the summary decision by FCC Chief Administrative Law Judge Richard L. Sippel to delete the licenses for William Zawila’s 100.1 KNGS Coalinga, the Estate of HL Charles’ 102.1 KZPE Ford City and the Estate of Linda Ware’s 103.1 KZPO Lindsay CA in December, the FCC has deleted the licenses and sent notices to the licensees that the stations must cease operation immediately.
