Entercom Alternative 106.7 KROQ-FM Pasadena/Los Angeles has cut ties with its morning show.
Rebilled as “Kevin In The Morning with Allie & Jensen” following the departure of Gene ‘Bean’ Baxter last fall to move to England, longtime host Kevin Ryder and co-hosts Allie MacKay and Jensen Karp have all announced they were let go on Tuesday with Ryder stating the support staff of producer Dave Sanchez, Ruben, Jonathan ‘Beer Mug’ Kantrowe, and Destiny Lopez also being let go.
Ryder and Baxter joined KROQ in December 1989 after previously working together at KZZP Phoenix. The show was previously syndicated to other west coast markets including San Francisco, Fresno, Phoenix and Reno. The pair were inducted into the Radio Hall of Fame last November.
The move follows the exit of longtime KROQ Program Director Kevin Weatherly last month with “Alt 92.3” WNYL New York PD Mike Kaplan adding oversight of KROQ.
KROQ has since announced that Ted Stryker and Kevin Klein will move from afternoons to mornings.
Hey party people! Not sure how to say this, so here it is:
Yesterday, @kroq called every one of us on the morning show and told us we were fired.
Me.@alliemackay @JensenKarp @kroqkom @kroqbeermug, @Old_Man_Ruben and @destinymlopez (cont..)— – (@thekevinryder) March 18, 2020
Why did @kroq fire all of us on the morning show? I assume it’s the ratings, which were down. The economy because it’s down. But it’s a pretty crappy way to treat people.
We’re humbled by you spending any time w us. THANK YOU. (Going to sleep for about a week 🙂

One last thing.
There are 3 guys here to throw me out of the building.
(I couldn't make this up)Not necessary. Leaving. 🙂
Love all of you…

Met some great people, saw some awesome bands, laughed a lot with cool ass coworkers. Is the timing ideal? Not even a little….but I’m lucky. I’ve got amazing people in my corner. Thank you all. Truly. ❤️❤️❤️ pic.twitter.com/gEP084ucWA

Baxter quickly added,
I am so sad for my talented wonderful friends at @kevinmornings. Mornings in SoCal are much worse off without them and I can’t wrap my head around it being done by phone during a pandemic. That’s no way to treat a Hall Of Fame show, @Entercom @KROQ. https://t.co/avt9RXJTpP
