From 1974 until 1997, “KY102” KYYS Kansas City was the powerhouse heritage AOR station in Kansas City.
While the “KY” brand and call letters were then resurrected on 99.7 through 2008, the calls have since been parked on Entercom’s 1250 Kansas City where they remain today. But the “KY” brand has been reborn by Eagle Radio in nearby St. Joseph MO.
The new “KY 102” 1270 KGNM/102.5 K273BF St. Joseph replaces the former Classic Hits format on the station. Eagle Radio is operating the station via LMA as it awaits FCC approval for its $160,000 acquisition of KGNM from Orama Inc. The format change takes the station out of competition with Eagle Classic Hits “Joe Town 107.5” 1550 KESJ/107.5 K298DA, which launched in August 2019.
KGNM is utilizing former KYYS imaging voice Joe Kelly to replicate the sound of its bigger city predecessor.
