Radio Power Inc. Hip Hop “WAMO 100” W261AX/WBZZ-HD3 Pittsburgh announced this morning it will be relocating to 660 WAMO/107.3 W297BU Wilkinsburg on Monday, November 2.
The Hip Hop format will replace Adult R&B “107.3 The Beat” on those frequencies. Prior to the launch of The Beat in June 2019, the Hip Hop format simulcast on both the 100.1 and 107.3 translators upon the latters launch in 2018.
The move marks the fourth FM frequency for the venerable WAMO brand in Pittsburgh. 105.9 WAMO-FM launched in 1948 and began originating its own programming in 1974. It would move to 106.7 in 1996 and would remain until the closing of its sale to St. Joseph’s Missions in 2010. Radio Power Inc. would resurrect the call letters on 660/100.1 in 2011.
No plans for the 100.1 translator have been announced yet.
