Sinclair Broadcast Group announced layoffs on Wednesday affecting five percent of their total workforce. The largest operator of local television stations also owns four radio stations in Seattle.
Among the exits from the company are the “Curt, Corine & Leonard” morning show at Hot AC “Star 101.5” KPLZ Seattle. Curt Kruse joined KPLZ as afternoon host in 2002. Corine McKenzie began with the station in 1996 as part of the morning show, then teamed with Kruse in afternoons in 2004 until their move to mornings in December 2018. Leonard Barokas had been with the station since 1991 and has served as morning show producer since 1994 and also served as Assistant Program Director.
PugetSound.media adds that KPLZ’s Music Director has exited. Alisa Hashimoto joined then CHR “Z101.5” as a sales assistant in 1989 before moving to the programming side.
