iHeartMedia has completed its shuffling of properties in Panama City FL with the launch of “Rock 94.5” WFLF-FM Parker.
Stating is will focus on Rock music from the 90s through now (despite two of the first songs being from earlier), the new station will air the syndicated Lex & Terry in mornings. iHeart’s national voicetrackers Theresa, Chumley, and Klinger will make up the remainder of the weekday lineup. The station will also carry Florida State University football.
“Rock 94.5” launched at 5pm today with Van Halen’s “Panama”, Papa Roach “Last Resort”, Heart “Barracuda”, and Beck “Loser”.
The launch follows the move of Conservative Talk “94.5 WFLA” to 96.3 W242BF and 102.5 W273DU Panama City on Wednesday followed by two and a half days of stunting as “Christmas 94.5“. W242BF had been operating as Rock “96 Rock” since June 2017.
The new format creates a competitor to Magic Broadcasting’s “97X” WYYX Bonifay, which had been the only other Rock based station in the market since 95.9 WRBA’s shift from Classic Rock to Classic Hits last year.
iHeartMedia Panama City announced today the debut of the new ROCK 94.5, The Gulf Coast’s Rock Station, effective immediately.
94.5 WFLF-FM is now the home of the new ROCK 94.5. The format will include both classic and current rock music from the 90’s to now. With its 100kw signal, ROCK 94.5 will be able to deliver great rock hits and entertainment to a wide area along Florida’s northern Gulf Coast covering several Florida counties. ROCK 94.5 will feature “Lex and Terry” on weekday mornings and rock music throughout the day with limited commercials. The station will also be the official radio broadcast affiliate for Florida State University Football. In addition to broadcasting on 94.5 WFLF-FM, ROCK 94.5 can be heard on iHeartRadio.com is available on the iHeartRadio app.
