Audacy Hot AC “New 102.7” WNEW New York has announced it has signed “Karen Carson in the Morning” hosts Karen Carson, Johnny Mingione and Anthony Malerba to contract extensions.
Carson moved from middays to mornings at then “Fresh 102.7” in August 2015 at first paired with Cane Peterson and later Jeffrey Jameson. Mingione joined Carson in March 2019. ‘Intern Anthony’ Malerba joined the station as an intern in 2016 and rose to Executive Producer two months later.
Prior to joining WNEW, Carson previously co-hosted mornings at “106.7 Lite-FM” WLTW and remotely tracked middays at 103.5 KOST Los Angeles. She has also held on-air roles at then AC’s 93.1 WPAT-FM and 105.1 WBIX New York and Classic Rock “Q104.3” WAXQ along with multiple stations at the Jersey Shore.
Mingione previously served as a cast member of the Todd & Jayde Show on 95.5 WPLJ and has also worked at Cox Media Long Island as Director of Digital Media and part of the Dana & Jayson Show on CHR 106.1 WBLI.

Karen Carson is a born and bred Jersey girl, on the air in New York City. She’s a mom who makes her way through wrestling matches, soccer, and dance, while entertaining listeners on their morning drive. As a former triathlete, she’s lucky if she can get a three-mile walk into her busy schedule these days, but she loves being on the radio and sharing her relatable life stories as she has since 1996. Carson has also previously co-hosted at WLTW Lite FM’s “Karen and Christine in the Morning.” Her career includes middays at KOST FM in Los Angeles, as well WAXQ and WKTU. She’s a graduate of Monmouth University and found the beginning of her career at WJLK in Asbury Park, NJ.
As a native New Yorker, born and raised on Long Island, Johnny Mingione aka Johnny Drama, started his career as an intern/sandwich-getter for Jimmy Fallon and “Regis & Kelly.” From there, he created viral videos and parody songs, achieving more than 50 MILLION views! Mingione is also in a punk rock band and loves playing music with instruments ranging from the piano to the ukulele and more.
