He shared, “Friday was my last day with 100.3 The Edge. This budget cut feels a little different. I really was having a great time with my old roommate Kevin Cruise, and Robyn fit so naturally with us. I looked forward to work every morning. More importantly my family really benefited from this new schedule. Working back in local radio allowed me to scale back doing events so I could be more present with Tiff and the boys. Over the last year we made the decision for me to only focus on doing events on Fridays and Saturdays, then out of nowhere this opportunity comes along that gives me the freedom to be home on Friday nights. What a blessing, it helped my family and I had fun every morning. I guess that’s why this stings so much. Without going too deep, the way this show was created and using technology really helped with our family. We don’t talk about this much but Tiff has MS and it can be challenging. We have to manage her energy to make sure she doesn’t get any new lesions on her spinal cord or brain, and to care for her when she does have problems. This seemed like it was a blessing, I actually work less hours, be with the family more, and have fun on the air. I will be fine, WE will be fine, but this one gutted me. I still have my 9 radio affiliates that carry my show, and I will still DJ events, but man, doing a morning show in my home town felt right.” Kramer can be found at @DougKramerLive or DougKramerLive@gmail.com.

Madison

Jena Emmert exits as Madison WI cluster Production Director and evening host at CHR “Z104” WZEE Madison. She shared, “I’ve accomplished so much at iHeart over the past 5 years, and leave knowing that my name is now embedded in history book of Z104 and my other six stations. I came into this industry believing that radio is a dying art, and come out of it knowing how important it is for creating fans. I am constantly reminded of the 9yo version of me that listened to radio every morning on the bus, and how those were the moments that led me to having a deep love of music.”

Mansfield OH

Matt Appleby departs Country 101.3 WNCO-FM Ashland OH after 39 years at the station where he had been serving as Program Director and afternoon host as well as Creative Director for the Ashland/Mansfield cluster.

Good Lord… It would’ve been easier to list the people still working. What a cutthroat business this is.

Best of luck to the unfortunate ones listed here.

(Makes me sound old lol) I wouldn’t change anything for the world. I’ve made life long friendships & got to be the voice for change and joy in peoples lives. I’ve been top 5 my whole career (more like top 3) wasn’t let go of because of my performance or anything.. Gunna miss my Iheart family More then anything. This is a small set back for a great come back story. This is weird & I’m nervous about the future, but I know it’s gunna be something #fresh2def. Kramer previously had a 27 year run with the company from 1993 to 2020 that included time at KLAZ Hot Springs, KSTE-FM New Orleans, KJYO Oklahoma City, and KHKN Little Rock as well as a syndicated CHR mixshow.

I came into this industry believing that radio is a dying art, and come out of it knowing how important it is for creating fans. I am constantly reminded of the 9yo version of me that listened to radio every morning on the bus, and how those were the moments that led me to having a deep love of music.”

Good Lord… It would’ve been easier to list the people still working. What a cutthroat business this is.

Best of luck to the unfortunate ones listed here.
