iHeartMedia Classic Rock 100.7 WZLX Boston will debut the “Chuck Nowlin Morning Show” on Monday, April 14.
Nowlin, who has hosted afternoons on WZLX for over 30 years, will be joined by Danielle Murr and WZLX Program Director Chris Tyler. He commented, “After years of working the fryolator during the afternoon rush, I’m psyched to take the paper trainee hat off to manage the morning shift and start the day with Boston.”
Murr was previously part of the Greg Hill hosted morning show on Audacy Rock 107.3 WAAF and Sports 93.7 WEEI-FM from 2006 until 2021 as well as interim morning host at Beasley Country 102.5 WKLB. She said, “My passport needs a break, so I’ve decided to get back to my rock and roll roots. I’m thrilled to return to the morning airwaves in Boston, and bring a dose of sanity to start the day—while undoubtedly driving Chuck and Tyler crazy. I’m excited to add my brand of wit and wisdom to the immensely-talented team at WZLX and iHeart Boston.”
Tyler has programmed WZLX since November 2017. He previously has programmed WAKS and WMMS Cleveland, was SVP/Programming for iHeart Providence and previously worked in Boston on-air then as APD/MD and then PD of iHeart’s Rhythmic CHR “Jam’n 94.5” WJMN and CHR “Kiss 108” WXKS-FM. He commented, “I’ve been lucky enough to manage some amazing talent over the years, and Chuck is at the top of that list. He is beloved by the loyal WZLX audience. So, it only makes sense that he hosts the new morning show. What doesn’t make sense is me getting up at an ungodly hour every day to be a co-host. He promised me a box of expensive cigars, which I still haven’t received. Oh well, let’s go Boston!”
Kenny Young had been filling-in on mornings since the Rich Shertenleib Morning Show was dropped last November after less than six months in mornings.
