Civic Media continues its growth in Wisconsin as it acquires Full Service Soft Oldies “93.1 The Wave” 1600 WRPN/93.1 W226CQ Ripon and Oldies “102.3 The Bug” WAUH Wautoma from Thomas Boyson’s Hometown Broadcasting for $1.4 million.
Civic Media says it will begin operating the stations via a Time Brokerage Agreement on May 1 ahead of closing and will hire the existing staff at both stations.
Civic Media CEO Sage Weil said, “WAUH and WRPN are great examples of local, hometown radio done right, and we are excited to bring them into the Civic Media family. We look forward to building the online audience in these communities and integrating the local reporting staff into our statewide news team to bring more local news and information to the area.”
Following the acquisition, Civic Media will own 24 stations across Wisconsin and two in Ely MN.
