Cumulus Media brought “Scott Shannon’s True Oldies Channel” programming to Oxnard/Ventura CA with the flip of CHR “106.3 The Vibe” KVYB Oak View on Monday.
Now branding as “Groovy 106.3“, the station will also continue to serve as the market’s home for Los Angeles Dodgers baseball. KVYB had been running Westwood One’s now-discontinued “Hits Now” 24/7 network.
The move is the first time Cumulus has utilized the Scott Shannon programmed network since the company stopped distributing it in June 2014 following Shannon’s exit from Hot AC 95.5 WPLJ New York that year. The network would be resurrected in 2016 and is now distributed by Local Radio Networks.
KVYB had a Dodgers World Series boosted 0.8 to 2.1 jump in the Fall 2024 Nielsen Audio ratings. The move leaves Point Broadcasting’s “Live 105.5” KFYV with its 2.3 share as the only Mainstream CHR in the market. The new Oldies format creates a flanker to Classic Hits 103.3 KRUZ against Point’s Rhythmic Oldies “Old School 104.7” KOCP.
